Klan fliers circulating in one community may be fake

Posted: Updated:
Tallassee, Al - Tallassee police believe recruitment flyers for a Ku Klux Klan group may be a hoax. They're now looking for the people responsible for them.

The fliers appeared on lawns in Tallassee over the weekend. The photocopied letters claimed to be from the Traditionalist Knights and were supposedly recruiting new members.

But investigators say there's no evidence that the flyers were actually made by the group. Police are patrolling neighborhoods and removing the fliers. The department says it's taking the flyers seriously. Police warn the people responsible for them may be prosecuted.
