NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A day after a fatal shooting, police arrested a man and woman and charged them with murder.

Investigators arrested 26-year-old Latoya Latrice Carson and Jason Fulmore with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Miquel Shine. The coroner's office would not say where Shine was shot, but the death has been ruled a homicide.

According to police, the shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. at Alton Street near Rivers Avenue.

When police responded to the area, they found a man who had been shot and killed. Witnesses reportedly told police there was an argument between the victim and another person. A short time later, a car pulled up and shots were fired at the victim, police said.

NCPD officials said both suspects were located on Monday afternoon and later charged with murder.

“I did get into an altercation him but we ain’t shoot him. To kill somebody over a pair of sunglasses that’s petty,” said Carson, speaking to the judge during a bond hearing Tuesday.

According to court documents, Carson called Shine about a pair of stolen sunglasses. The document goes on to say the victim told Carson that he would slap her. That’s when police Fulmore picked up Carson in a Gold Lincoln and where they found Shine on Alton Street near Rivers Avenue.

Police say Carson and Shine got into an argument, shortly after Fulmore shot Shine in the face and they both fled the scene.

The family of Fulmore was in court. They say he is not a murderer.

“My nephew is not a killer. He’s a great father and he takes care of his kids,” said Wendell Brown, Fulmore’s uncle.

“There is a tape that will prove his innocence so we will wait and see,” said Patsy Branche, Fulmore’s aunt.

This was the third shooting of the weekend in North Charleston.

According to police, around 10 p.m. Saturday night, a patrol officer saw two men running away from I-526 and West Montague Avenue. One of the men flagged down the officer and said the other man had been shot.

Officers found a Jeep nearby that had crashed into some shrubbery. Police say the driver's side door was open and the Jeep was still running and in drive.

While talking to the men, police say the answers given by the men were "vague," but officers determined they were on the exit ramp of I-526 when a gray sedan with dark windows pulled up beside them and opened fire.

According to the police report, the Jeep had been hit by at least six bullets.

The victim was taken to Medical University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his back.

Police do not have any further details about the suspects, but are still investigating the crime.

There was also a third shooting that happened on July 4 in Dorchester County identified as part of North Charleston. A map, however, identifies the area as just inside an unincorporated area of the county. According to the Dorchester County Coroner, a 43-year-old man was killed in the shooting.
