NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A fourth man was arrested Wednesday and charged with a pair of 2010 murders in McClellanville.

According to Charleston County deputies, 30-year-old King Chevais Conyers was arrested by the US Marshal Task Force in Columbia Wednesday. Conyers had been named by another suspect, Mario Caldwell who in turn had been implicated in the murder by Troy Mason.

The original incident happened on July 10, 2010. When officers responded to an Old Georgetown Road home, they found Curtis Delaney dead outside the front door and Melvin Simmons inside his bedroom, according to the affidavit.

Witnesses reportedly told deputies that the fight started around 4 a.m. when several black men entered Simmons' home and yelled, "FBI, get on the ground!" According to the affidavit, the suspects and victim opened fire and Simmons and Delaney were killed, but a trail of blood from the scene led deputies to believe at least one of the suspects had been wounded.

The same day Troy Mason showed up at the Trident Medical Center emergency room with several gunshot wounds, the affidavit states. His clothes were taken into evidence and sent to the State Law Enforcement Division. Documents show the blood on Mason's clothes was linked to the scene in McClellanville.

Two years later, Mason recorded a confession of his involvement and implicated Mario Caldwell. In the confession, Mason said he and Caldwell went to Simmons' home to rob the victim and was wounded in a gun battle with Simmons and Delaney. Mason said Caldwell dropped him off that the hospital and took the car involved in the robbery and burned it.

On May 15, 2014, Caldwell confessed to being involved in the shooting and robbery and implicated King Conyers and Jeremiah Belton, who was arrested on July 7.

Conyers is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center and will go through bond court on Thursday. He is charged with murder, burglary in the first degree and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
