East Bay closed for gas leak, now secured

 CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston Fire Department crews responded to a gas leak downtown that has now been secured.

Officials said the investigation took place around 8 a.m. near East Bay Street and Cumberland Street. SCE&G crews arrived around 9 a.m.

East Bay street was closed between Market and Cumberland streets. Officials took to twitter to report they would reopen around 10:30 a.m.
