HOOVER, Alabama -- The sister of a man suspected of shooting and killing his pregnant wife in Hoover last month was arrested Monday night on a hindering prosecution charge.

Ashley Sowell, 20, of Birmingham, is charged with a felony count of first-degree hindering prosecution after she allegedly provided homicide investigators misleading information as they attempted to locate her brother -- Brian Darnell Epps -- who was wanted in the June 28 shooting death of Rashon Epps.

Sowell was booked into the city jail on a $7,500 bond. She is awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail, where her sibling continues to be held without bond after he was taken into custody July 1 and charged with capital murder.
