Decatur City Schools Considers Banning E-Cigarettes

Posted: Updated:

Decatur, Ala._ Decatur City Schools is considering a ban on e-cigarettes. School Board leaders could vote on a proposal that would ban the electronic device at its next meeting. The state mandates tobacco products should be banned on school property. The only problem is that school board leaders are not sure if that includes e-cigarettes.

In 2013, Alabama added e-cigarettes to its tobacco rules, labeling it as an alternative nicotine product.  The rule made it illegal to sell e-cigarettes to anyone under 19-years-old. Alabama is one of seven states to classify e-cigarettes that way.
