TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - A casino boat is still stuck in shallow water off the Georgia and South Carolina coasts, one day after the Coast Guard rescued 118 passengers and crew from the stranded vessel.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Anthony Soto said Thursday that the Coast Guard was reviewing plans for a salvage crew to free the Escapade. The 174-foot casino ship ran aground on rocks during its operator's first voyage from Savannah on Tuesday night.

Passengers were stranded overnight and most of the next day before they returned to shore aboard Coast Guard cutters Wednesday afternoon.

Attempts to pull the Escapade loose using tow cables failed Wednesday, prompting the Coast Guard to rescue its passengers and crew. Soto said further efforts to free the ship could come Thursday or Friday.

Petty Officer 1st Class Lauren Jorgensen says the initial report from the Escapade's crew was about a malfunction of the chart plotter, part of the navigation system.

Florida-based Tradewinds Casino Cruise operates the Escapade and didn't immediately respond to phone messages.
