Elderly Tuscaloosa man charged with sexual abuse of 18-year-old woman

TUSCALOOA COUNTY - AL - Tuscaloosa police say they were called to 1800 Links Boulevard Tuesday on a report of a sexual assault.

Investigators spoke with a 18-year-old female who said she was assaulted by 77-year-old Ira Williams when she went to his apartment to buy cigarettes. After interviewing both the victim and suspect and gathering evidence at the scene, police found probably cause to arrest Williams on one count of sexual abuse.

He was placed in Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

An investigation remains ongoing.
