NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at the Value Dollar on Rivers Avenue over the weekend.

According to the incident report, responding officers found money scattered about the business and a clerk sitting on a ladder with a stab wound to her chest. The officer said the wound did not appear to be deep.

The clerk told police that the suspect came in and asked to get a quarter for two dimes and a nickel so that he could do laundry. As the clerk opened the register, the suspect reportedly reached over and stabbed her in the right side of her chest before reaching into the register and grabbing the money inside.

The suspect is described as a 5'11" light skinned black male weighing about 160 pounds, wearing a light blue shirt, blue basketball shorts with a white and dark blue design down the side, and a khaki baseball hat. Witnesses said he rode away on a bicycle down Rivers onto Cosgrove Avenue.

Police have release photos from the store's surveillance cameras.

If anyone knows anything about this or any other crime, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
