Former Clemson Club prez accused of DUI, driving wrong way on Ravenel Bridge

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was arrested and charged for driving under the influence after police say he was involved in a head-on collision on the Ravenel Bridge.

According to police, 64-year-old Walter Jenkins was driving the wrong way on the Ravenel Bridge when the he crashed into another car.

During an interview at the scene with police, Jenkins reportedly told officers he'd been drinking, but only had three or four beers at a bar on King Street.

Officers gave Jenkins several sobriety tests he failed, a report shows.

Jenkins is the former president of the Charleston County Clemson Club. He's listed on the organization's website as the immediate past president. 

He was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
