Dorchester deputies: Man shot early Friday after kicking in ex-girlfriends door

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Authorities say a man was shot early Friday morning after he kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriend's apartment.{}

Dorchester County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Samuel Richardson said Chavez Wright went to Coopers Ridge Apartments at 1300 Coopers Ridge Drive and told his ex-girlfriend to open the door or he would kick it in.{}

When the woman told Wright to go away he kicked the door in, Richardson said.{}

Another man inside the apartment fired multiple times, striking Wright, Richardson said.{}

Wright was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released Friday. Richardson said he was taken to the Dorchester County Detention Center in St. George on a charge of burglary in the second degree.

The shooting remains under investigation, Richardson said.{}
